Super Street SR-1 Team Drag Challenge

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 01-25-02

Get Respect, Get Noticed, Get Paid
IDRC's SR-1 Team Drag Challenge By Super Street
World's Quickest Racing Crews Have Their Chance for the Spotlight

Are you a racer that believes you would never have a chance of beating the stars of the IDRC's heads-up classes? Are you and your friends short on the funds to run with the big dawgs? Are you tired of straight-up bracket racing that gets minimal coverage in your favorite magazines? We know your needs and now thanks to the support of Super Street magazine, there is a solution.

It's called the SR-1 Team Drag Challenge presented by Super Street. Now you and your racing crew can take it off it streets and bring it to the track to get respect, get noticed and get paid. The call has been made to all import and sport compact racing crews in Southern California to take this challenge. "Bring out your crew's top four cars and race against other four-car teams. Each win for your team will count as a point. The two teams with the most points after the conclusion of the playoff round will face each other in a team-to-team showdown. In the event of a tie, the quickest car from each team will race each other for the ultimate title in bragging rights," says IDRC Technical Director Jerry Hsien. To level the playing field all cars must be currently registered, stock chassis and muffled. Front-wheel-drive competitors may use slicks, but rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive competitors must use DOT tires. Jerry goes on to say, "this is a program that will bring the street racers to the IDRC events. Best of all, there's no additional cost to enter the challenge. Competitors pay their usual $65 and they can race in the SR-1 program on Saturday and then race in the IDRC brackets for more money on Sunday."

Some of So-Cal's legendary street racing teams have responded to the challenge as well as many from the new generation. Speedline Racing Concepts of Irvine, California will be pulling some of their cars out of long-term storage as active crews like Zentraedi, Jetspeed and Elusive have also confirmed appearances. "We're not sure if the old rivalries of Team Wicked versus Cyber Racing will resurface, but we're sure we'll see new teams make their marks in history," says National Director Michael Ferrara.
