DRAG RACING---IDRC OPENS 2002 SEASON THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 02-16-02
IDRC PRODUCING WORLD'S FIRST LIFESTYLE MOTORSPORTS EVENT SERIES
Los Angeles County Raceway (LACR) will be First Stop on IDRC's 2002
Excitement Tour
Advanced Clutch Technology IDRC West Coast Nationals 1st of the IDRC's
15-Race 2002 Series
"2002 is the Year of the IDRC Racer. Our company's passion and thrill for
competition has us settling for nothing less than being first. First in our
segments and first in the development of new segments. Our slogan has always
been 'By the Racers, For the Racers' and this year the IDRC has more
horsepower and a stronger foundation than ever before. While it is true that
there are other companies that will come and go in the production of import
and sport compact events, the IDRC will always be the First while
continually striving to remain the best. We are in business to help all of
those that do business with us. It's not 'win-win', it's more like
'win-win-win-win-win'. From the racer, fans and sponsors to the media and
track owners." says IDRC National Director Michael Ferrara. He goes on to
say, "Today's marketplace leaves little time to sit back and enjoy your
accomplishments. Unless your are relentless in the pursuit of being first,
you will undoubtedly be staring at your competitor's taillights. For 2002,
we have expanded our program to include new promotional and marketing
opportunities that can help both automotive and youth-oriented companies
become first in this market. An effective promotional program produces sales
many times the sponsor's investment. Not spending money on the IDRC's
successful promotional programs or its high-profile racers results in losing
the opportunity for increased sales for the companies not involved. Although
our economy has slowed since the 9-11 tragedy, the answer is not to lose
touch with your customer by cutting your promotional and advertising
budgets. Rather, the answer is just the opposite. We have doubled our event
promotion efforts compared to 2001 in order keep our existing base while
attracting new fans and racers. All indicators are projecting a substantial
return on this additional investment."
Throughout its successful history, the IDRC has been associated with many
firsts. In 1998, the IDRC produced the first event to showcase the best
racers from the West Coast against the best racers from the East Coast. In
1999, the IDRC became the first to expand the top classes to 16-car fields.
In 2000, the IDRC produced the first national championship drag racing
series for imports and sport compacts. In 2001, the IDRC's racers became the
first into the 8s in a factory-chassis platform while the IDRC Meguiar's
Movement One Car Show became the first People's Choice car show produced
nationally for the sport compact market. For 2002, the list of firsts for
the IDRC is longer than ever: First producer of three separate Divisional
Championship Series for the racers; First to develop the Team Drag Racing
Challenge presented by Super Street magazine which helps the local
communities by providing a true alternative to street racing; First to reach
the $500,000 mark in racer payouts; First to provide a total event
experience to the fans with record-setting racing, a top-notch car show, the
IDRC Starter Girls, the Turbo Magazine Dyno Challenge, the AV1 Audio-Visual
competition presented by Autosound & Security magazine, a $10,000
fan-appreciation parts raffle and an interactive manufacturer's midway.
On Saturday, February 23rd at Los Angeles County Raceway (LACR), it's time
for the racers, fans, sponsors and media to witness the ultimate evolution
of the revolution. All of the top professional import and sport compact drag
racing stars will be debuting their new 2002 combinations with hopes on
winning the richest and most prestigious championship in modern drag racing.
Racing along with a total event experience has been promised by the IDRC's
expansive promotion and marketing campaign. Is it working? To date, event
pre-sales tickets are at double the biggest events that the IDRC has held at
LACR. LACR is driving distance to many of the manufacturers, retailers and
tuners in the import and sport compact car market. Perhaps this is why every
company that's looking to be first in their market will be in attendance
from ACT to ZEX (Display space is expected to sell out before Wednesday,
February 20th). First for the Racers, First for the Fans, First for the
Sponsors and First for the Media---this is the IDRC's 2002 season pledge.
To see history being made, be sure to join everyone for the Advanced Clutch
Technologies IDRC West Coast Nationals event on Saturday, February 23rd and
Sunday, February 24th at Los Angeles County Raceway.
