| IDRC Launches East Coast's 2001 Compact Drag Racing Season |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 05-10-01
Apex, Ford, Abel, and Buschur Look to Rewrite the Record Books
The East Coast racers and fans have anxiously awaited the start of their
2001 import/sport compact drag racing season. The wait will soon be over as
the most die-hard fans of import and sport compact performance will have
their prayers answered on May 20th at the IDRC Importdrag.com East Coast
Nationals. This event will take place at Maple Grove Raceway, just 45
minutes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Maple Grove Raceway has been the
site of more record-setting import and sport compact performances than any
other racetrack in the IDRC series.
This March, weather spoiled A'PEX Integration's plans to make the public
debut of the A'PEX Integration twin-turbo H22 Integra at the Lone Star. This
delay has had some benefits as it has given the racing team a chance to try
out some different setups including some bigger turbochargers. Now more
powerful than ever, Japan's quickest and fastest FWD will try to claim the
world record. In 2000, this IDRC event was where Steph made his first
8-second pass. Will history be made again?
Ford Racing will be making the news with the world premiere of the Hoyos
Racing twin-turbo V6 Ford Focus. Currently the most powerful sport compact
in the world, the team will attempt to get the power to the ground to
challenge the likes of Abel Ibarra, the 2000 Pro Class series champion. Abel
will be back for the first time in the Toyo Tires RX-7 and he's anxious to
get back in the points lead.
With the Honda, Ford and Mazda camps well represented, the Mitsubishi camp
also looks strong. David Buschur will make the World Premiere of his new
Buschur Racing Pro Class Eclipse, while the Quick class Hondas will need to
step it up to compete with the Extreme Motorsports Diamond Stars of Sean
Glazar and Brent Rau.
Are you a Toyota fan? Vinny Ten's world-record holding Supra will attempt to
become the first Outlaw in the 7s while making a serious run for the Outlaw
Class championship in 2001.
Attention Racers---First-timer or pro, there is an IDRC class for you to
race your full-race Pro car or your rental.
Based on current on-line registrations, the event is expected to reach its
maximum level of 500 racers. Anyone wishing to race is strongly encouraged
to register on-line to guarantee their spot. Visit www.importdrag.com
to sign-up on-line.
