Advanced Clutch Technology IDRC Spring Nationals

Atco Raceway, New Jersey
Sunday, June 3rd, 2001

After a record setting production at its East Coast opener, the IDRC and its headline racers are ready to rewrite the record books on Sunday, June 3rd at Atco Raceway. The top point's leaders in import drag racing's most prestigious and richest national series will now take aim at earning points toward the $128,500 championship purse. While racing action will be heated, the Movement One car show is looking to eclipse its newly set record with over 200 cars in surrounding the packed manufacturer's midway. The number of Movement One trophies and awards has been tripled for this special event. This event will also feature a USAC Outlaw SPL challenge to see who can crank it up with the highest horsepower audio system. The audio systems will be hard to hear over the crowd's cheers as the IDRC's Ultimate Body Contest makes its East Coast debut with some of the hardest bodies East of the Mississippi. The best magazines in the industry, including Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car and Turbo, will capture this historic event.

In the Toyo Tires Pro Class, Marcos Acosta and the Keystone three-rotor MX-3 will challenge the newly crowned world's fastest sport compact, the Hoyos Racing V6 twin-turbo Ford Focus that ran 7.59s at 187 mph is looking to run even quicker and faster. David Buschur and his Pro Class Eclipse will look to find the limits of performance without the bottle. Will the "import killer" Focus move into the points lead, or will the field of Pro Class imports unite to defeat the Detroit threat?

In the Apex Integration Outlaw Class, Vinny Ten will be back in hopes of becoming the first Outlaw into the 7s. Last weekend, problems with the nitrous system kept Vinny out of competition. For this national IDRC event, Vinny is hungry for a victory. Locals Carlos Monatano in the Pepe Loco Datsun and Juan Lopez in the Lopez Productions Datsun have other plans, as they look to move up in the points chase to dethrone the current leader Stephan Papadakis.

In the Nitto Tires Quick Class presented by Turbo magazine, the Extreme Motorsports Diamond Stars of Brent Rau and Sean Glazar are looking for retribution as minor problems kept the number-one and number-two qualifiers out of the winner's circle at the IDRC East Coast Nationals. Gary Gardella and the Ecko Unlimited Civic are out to prove that their Cinderella-story victory last weekend was no fluke.

In the importdrag.com Street class presented by Sport Compact Car magazine, Brad Daley will be back in action to quell the onslaught of all-wheel-drives that dominated last week's action. Winner and runner-up, John Shepherd and Jeff Hill have other plans as both plan to earn enough points to take over the points lead.

Tickets are still available for racers, show cars, and spectators at www.importdrag.com or at the gate. You've read about it in your favorite magazine, you've seen it on television, now it is time to become part of the ultimate import/sport compact experience...IDRC.
