| All-Motor Racers are All Business in 2001 IDRC Championship Race |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 06-22-01
No Turbos, No Nitrous, No Problem in the IDRC's Fastest Growing Class
Eight Out of 14 IDRC National Events Will Cater to the All-Motor
Maniacs in 2001
Times are changing in the world of sport-compact motorsports. IDRC
events
are setting attendance records, while the IDRC racers are rewriting the
record books. Since the 2000 IDRC International Finals, one particular
"class" of racers has emerged as a new force in the sport. This new
Force is
"All Motor". Just like its presenting sponsor Import Tuner magazine,
this
IDRC class is on course to be number one.
During the 2000 season, the All-Motor racers were the orphans of the
sport.
"No turbos" and "no nitrous" had many of the die-hard enthusiasts and
sponsors giving "no respect" to the All-Motor racers. At the 2000 IDRC
International Finals at LACR, the incredible performances of these race
teams earned the crowd's support, thanks to the most competitive racing
in
all of the heads-up classes. Some sponsors have followed suit and
supported
a few of the individual teams, but now the class is in need of a
sponsor for
six of the remaining 10 events in the 2001 calendar.
According to National Director Michael Ferrara, "We worked closely with
the
racers in the All-Motor class with multiple team meetings. This ensured
that
the IDRC has a fair and competitive class structure for all of the
teams
involved. Since these teams have committed to the IDRC program, we
needed to
show our commitment to the All-Motor racers by expanding the number of
events that showcase the class. Now, a total of eight of our 14 events
this
season will feature the All-Motor class, that's double our commitment
from
last year. With the right sponsor involvement, there's no reason this
class
wouldn't be able to be part of all 18 races in our 2002 season."
As for
the
All-Motor class sponsorship, National Sales Manager Kelvin Tohar had
this to
say, "We are thankful of DC Sports past support in 2000 and early 2001.
DC
Sports' class sponsorship helped take the All-Motor class to its number
one
position in qualifying field size on the West Coast. Unfortunately, DC
Sports focus on getting their new facility dialed-in has prevented the
sponsor from continued support of the class for the remainder of 2001.
We
are hoping for a speedy transition for DC Sports and looking forward to
DC
Sports return to the IDRC program in the near future. But right now,
this
class needs a sponsor and we'll structure a solid deal to make it
happen."
The All-Motor Class will be at the following IDRC events in the
remainder of
the 2001 schedule:
Summer Slam Nationals (June 30th /July 1st, Englishtown,NJ)
Mid-Summer Nationals (July 28th/29th, LACR, CA), Tri-State
Nationals(Sept. 2nd, Great Meadows, NJ)
East Coast Finals (October 21st, Maple Grove, CA)
Long Horn Nationals (November 10th/11th, San Antonio, TX)
Nitto Tires IDRC International Finals (November 30th/December 1st/2nd,
LACR,
CA).
Five of these six events will be televised on Speedvision,
bringing the
season total to eight televised events.
With a total of eight events featuring the All-Motor class, the
championship
race in this IDRC class will factor the racers best four finishes along
with
the qualifying points earned at every event. Membership is a
requirement for
All-Motor racers to earn their share of the $128,500 in championship
dollars.
