FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 07-05-01
ACT Continues To Raise Support For IDRC's Record Setting Events
Advanced Clutch Technology IDRC Mid-Summer Nationals
July 28th & July 29th, Los Angeles County Raceway, Palmdale, CA
Projected Attendance: 20,000 Spectators, 500 racers, 80 Vendors
Set to Break All Previous Records For West Coast Events
After breaking all previously set East Coast records at the 2001 Nitto
Tire IDRC Summer Slam Nationals, the IDRC and Advanced Clutch Technology are
ready to make history on the West Coast. According to Operations
Director Wayne Kiang, "In business, timing is everything and the time is NOW for
IDRC to take our import and sport compact industry to the forefront. Summer
Slam was the first step, the Mid-Summer Nationals is the second." With the
blockbuster success of Universal's The Fast & The Furious ($86M as of
today) and the phenomenal success of the IDRC's 2001 program, it's easy to
understand the enthusiasm.
It's Fast, It's Furious, It's Like No Other Event In the World
The IDRC's program for the Mid-Summer Nationals will not only feature
the
best racers in the world from the only "By the Racers, For the Racers"
organization, it will also feature and entertainment program never
before
seen in the industry. The only west-coast appearance of the World's
Quickest
and Fastest Sport Compact (Hoyos Racing Ford Focus 7.41 / 187 mph) will
also
join Grudge-Match qualifying on Saturday only. Saturday will also
feature
two live sets from So-Cal's hottest un-signed band (Cacawates) as well
as an
international break dancing competition. Sunday will pack the stands
with
the always-popular Ultimate Body Contest and championship racing
elimination
rounds. With over 40,000 movie goers to the Fast & The Furious already
receiving the official event program, they'll be happy to see a number
of
the actual cars from the movie on display and maybe even making a few
passes
down the quarter mile. "We've never done a pre-event promotion on the
level
of this Mid Summer Nationals. We keep printing our "last" batch of
50,000
event-program flyers, only to be ordering another 50,000, one week
later
after our promotion teams need more," says IDRC's Corporate Creative
Director Kris Bareng. On top of the programs sent to area tuning shops
and
distributed through the street teams, another 15,000 official programs
will
be direct-mailed to previous event spectators and participants, putting
the
final number well over the 100,000 mark.
ACT and Other Sponsors Raise the Bar
Advanced Clutch Technologies has become the event title sponsor of IDRC
events in three different markets for the 2001 season (Lone Star
Nationals-Texas, Mid-Summer Nationals-Southern California, and Spring
Nationals-South Jersey/Philadelphia). "We pledge to keep our sponsors
coming
back and ACT is one of the charter sponsors that has been a key element
to
our company's success," says National Sales Manager Kelvin Tohar. Tohar
went
on to say, "APC (American Products Company) signed with us today as the
class sponsor for the Street Class. Now, it's our job to develop a
marketing
program that will have APC sponsor this class for the 27 upcoming
events in
the IDRC 2001 and 2002 season." Currently, over 40 vendor display areas
have
been sold for this upcoming event. Space is limited, and only the next
20 to
40 companies (depending on display requirements) will be able to become
part
of this historic event. Two premium event programs are still available
(Event "presented by" sponsorship and the All-Motor Class Sponsorship),
as
well as limited booth space and some specialty awards. Due to space
limitations, booth pricing will go up beginning July 12th.
