FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** 07-13-01
Nitto Tires Turbo Magazine IDRC Quick Class Will Be The Biggest Ever at the ACT IDRC Mid-Summer Nationals
"With confirmed appearances from over 30 Quick class vehicles that have
run
in the 9s and 10s, we needed to take care of these racers. The crowd
wants
to see the Quick cars run, because they can relate to these
stock-chassis
rockets. Nitto Tires stepped up, as they have been known to do, and
everyone
is thankful that they are making the Quick 32 a reality, " says
Operations
Director Wayne Kiang. For the past three days, the IDRC has been
calling all
of the 9-second and 10-second Quick class racers from across the
country.
The result will be the most competitive, quickest and most diverse
field of
import and sport compact racers ever gathered for a single event.
$6,000 Nitto Tire Turbo Magazine Payouts & IDRC Championship Points
The Nitto Tire Quick-32 car format will still have three exciting
qualifying
sessions in Saturday's program. On Sunday, the program will feature an
additional round of eliminations. The IDRC will have an extended racing
schedule that will allow for adequate cool-down time between the
elimination
rounds. The revised schedule will be available by July 17th on the
website.
- First round-winners receive $125
- Quarterfinalists receive $200
- Semifinalists receive $350
- Runner-up receives $1000
- Winner receives $2500
Additionally, the winner
and
runner up are eligible for thousands of dollars in contingency for the
class
at this single event. As for qualifying points, the number one
qualifier
will receive 32 points and every spot behind that one point less.
Elimination points will be awarded the same as a 16-car field.
The awesome Quick class will just be one part of the incredible action
at
the Advanced Clutch Technology IDRC Mid-Summer Nationals. The Pro Class
will
have Team Toyo's Rotaries and Marcos Acosta trying to keep the Hoyos
Racing
Ford Focus out of the winner's circle. The Outlaw class will feature
Ray
Lochhead and the debuts of the new FWD Outlaws of the new AEM 2001 Drag
Civic driven by Stephan Papadakis and the debut of the new Nitto Tire
Bergenholtz Racing CRX. The All-Motor class will have Bisi trying to
stay on
top of a 16-car field with Scott Kelley, Teren King, Jarrod Silvers and
other 10 and 11-second stars. In the new APC Street Class, Ari Yallon
will
attempt to pull ahead of John Shepherd in the point's race.
