Are you looking for something to do on Saturday and Sunday July 28th
and
29th? Look no further and start making plans for the ultimate event to
hit
the West Coast. It'll be Fast, It'll be Furious, It will have no equal.
If
you like fast cars, fine women, faster cars, live music, and the
fastest
imports and sport compacts on the planet, there's only ONE place to
be--the
IDRC Advanced Clutch Technology Mid-Summer Nationals at Los Angeles
County
Raceway in Palmdale, California.
For The Spectators
200+mph Ford Focus Jet Power, 7-second import and sport compact power;
the
first-ever Nitto Tires Turbo Magazine Quick 32 showdown; World Premier
debuts of Stephan Papadakis' new 2001 AEM Drag Civic, Bergenholtz
Racing new
CRX and UPRD's new Outlaw Supra cars; the crowd-favorite Ultimate Body
Contest; a record-setting packed manufacturer's midway and three live
concert performances by Cacawates.
Can Team Toyo's Abel Ibarra and Efren Vazquez, Keystone's Marcos Acosta
or
Venom's Jimmy O'Connor defeat the Hoyos Racing "import killer" Focus
piloted
by Matt Hartford? Marcos spoiled Matt's plans in Atco, will it be a
repeat
in the Toyo Tire Pro Class? Witness it yourself.
Will Stephan Papadakis use his new 2001 AEM Drag Civic to shut down the
world's top Outlaws and regain the championship point's lead in the
chase
for $32,500 in the Apex Integration Outlaw Class? Nor-Cal's Ray
Lochhead and
his SR7.com RX-7 have other ideas and a new 5-speed transmission to put
the
pressure on Steph.
As a preview of things to come in the class, the
Bergenholtz Racing team will premiere the new Nitto Tire Outlaw CRX
that is
sure to have the pits talking. Remember, this is the same team that
pioneered the use of wheelie bars on a front-wheel-drive racecar.
Wonder
what other new technologies this new alcohol-burning Nitto ride has
under
the body? Be there to see. If that's not enough Outlaw action, get
ready
for the 1000" horsepower Supra from the UPRD team. This former APC
Street
Class rocket now has the Apex Integration Outlaw chassis and tire
combination that will allow it a shot at eventually becoming the first
Outlaw into the 7s.
Are you a Quick class fanatic? You need to be there for the Quick 32.
In
1999, the IDRC had the first-ever Quick 16 (XVI) class and now it's
only
appropriate that the biggest event ever to hit the West Coast will also
have
the first Nitto Tire Turbo Magazine Quick 32 (XXXII) in the history of
the
sport. Why are 32 spots needed? Because there are already 35 confirmed
quick
class racers that run in the 9s and 10s, many traveling from out of
state.
This promises to be the quickest, fastest and most diverse Quick class
ever.
The qualifying field will boast over 20,000 horsepower, for the most
powerful distinction of all time. Of the dozen out-of-state
competitors,
will it be Gardella's Honda, Rau's Mitsubishi, Crawford's Dodge or
Farrer's
Nissan that takes the lead in the Nitto Tire Turbo Magazine Quick
class?
Will they be able to get by Cali's top names including: Jimmy O'Connor
(Venom); Leevon Eisele, Jason Whitfield, Jason Mulroney, Tri-Do, Joel
Tanzman and KG Engineering's Best.
To the So-Cal's fans delight, the APC Street Class is proud to have the
RX-7s of Ari Yallon and Steven Kan of RX7.com take on the local's best
including Motorex GT-Rs, Ryan Carwin, Robert Lives Jr., Roy Navarez,
Michael
Mehnert, Ronnie Diaz, Bon Bon Ignacio and Mike Carwin. Who'll be the
last
streetcar standing after three brutal rounds of winner takes all? Can
an
import streetcar dip into the 9s on radial tires? Be there to see
history in
the making.
Like to see it done, with just compression, rpm and efficiency? Then
the
All-Motor class is where this action will be. Can Bisi Ezerioha and his
D15
CRX of RS Motorworks/Team Matrix hold off the hard-charging VW Team
Toyo
Tires Bullet driven by Scott Kelley? Jarrod Silvers, Andrea Whitfield
and
other record-setters will also be in the mix of the quickest 16
All-Motor
cars in the country square off.
There's something for everyone that enjoys fast cars. There's even a
1970 R-100 making the trek from Auto Toyz of Canada just to race along
with
a number of vehicles used in the blockbuster The Fast & The Furious
(Universal).
As for the manufacturer midway, you'll see Advanced Clutch
Technology, APC, Apex Integration, Arias Pistons, Autocannon, Belle
Racing
Communications, Cacawates, Crower, Diamond Bar Honda, East Side
Muffler,
Fluidyne, FMAX (with Dyno), Ford Racing, Golden Eagle, Hayame, Import
Racer,
Import Tuner, Impressions Apparel, Importculture.com, Innovative Turbo
Systems, Island Motorsports, JE Pistons, Koyo Cooling, Leading Edge,
Mainstream Productions, Meguiar's, Motec, Nitto Tires, One Eleven One,
Primedia, Sport Compact Car, SPW, Toyo Tires, Turbo Magazine, Valencia
Acura, Venom, Vinyl Mayhem, VIS, Vortech Engineering, Wanna Racer,
Weapon R,
XS Engineering, plus another 30 to 40 of the top names.
For The Racers
This is your time to shine for your team and your current and future
sponsors. A record crowd will be on hand along with outside- and
inside-industry companies looking to get involved in the sponsorship of
racers in the world's leading import/sport compact championship series.
Let's not forget about the post-event benefits that you'll receive with
the
most media coverage around. Sport Compact Car, Import Tuner, Turbo &
High-Tech Performance, Import Racer!, Hot Compact's & Imports, and
other
national magazines will have coverage along with 10 of the best
websites in
our industry. Let's not forget the television coverage from
Speedvision,
along with the awesome follow-up reports that you can hear on the
Speedfreaks radio show.
There are classes for first-timers to Pro's. If your car was used on
a piece of pre-promotion for the race, your team is entitled to up to
four
crew passes and a VIP pit space (deadline Wednesday, July 18th), you'll
just
need to buy a tech card for the racer and car.
Before we forget, IDRC has the biggest Championship Payout on the
planet with $128,500 in GUARANTEED payouts for its top finishing
members in
the five heads-up classes at the 2001 awards banquet in December.
There's
also over $18,000 in cash payouts available, along with another $70,000
in
contingency posted for this single event. If you are racing, don't
forget to
stick and win with contingency payouts from the companies that care
about
the racers. A special on-site payout is available to racers in the
brackets
running a Ford-badged sport compact. Bracket winners in Ford sport
compacts
will receive an additional $1000 to win or $500 for runner-up, paid on
the
spot. So if you have access to a Ford sport compact, race it and win
BIG.
Special Notes To Media, Booth Vendors
All requests for media passes must be received no later than this
Wednesday,
July 18th, 2001. If your company is in need of a booth space, this is
the
last week to get a booth with a late surcharge. Don't miss this
unmatched
opportunity to get your brand, product or shop to the forefront of the
import/sport compact movement. For booth space reservations, contact
IDRC
Sales Manager Kelvin Tohar at (714) 593-0291.
For Everyone
Hotels in the area are filling up quick, so we highly recommend making
your
hotel reservations today. A list of area hotels can be found in the Event Facts. The event is expected
to hit
capacity, so fill your cars to capacity as this will help increase
space for
additional parking. There are unique features happening on both
Saturday and
Sunday. It's a different program each day, so plan on being at LACR for
both
days of this historic IDRC event.
