SCC, Turbo and Tuner Back IDRC for 2002 Season For the fifth season in a row, the industry's top magazines have joined forces with the IDRC to support the fastest growing Motorsports in the world---sport compact drag racing. Sport Compact Car, the leader in the compact car segment, will once again present the Street Class for the 2002 season. Turbo & High-Tech Performance will present the ultra-competitive Quick class for its fifth year in a row while Import Tuner will continue its presentation of the fast-growing All-Motor Class. Although not yet finalized, the IDRC is hoping to design a program that will incorporate support from other Primedia titles including Super Street and Auto Sound & Security. "It's a great win-win relationship," says National Director Michael Ferrara. "National magazine support helps with both the promotion and coverage of the IDRC events. This benefits the racers and sponsors while expanding both the race fan and reader base. Working with the magazines has allowed the sport compact racing industry to reach new heights at a record pace," continues Ferrara, "For 2002, we are excited to be working closer with the magazines to provide total marketing solutions for the manufacturers." In working closer for 2002, the IDRC hopes to co produce "events within the event" that further the involvement of the magazines. Such plans include a proposed Dyno Tuner Challenge presented by Turbo Magazine at select events. This provides additional sources of editorial for the participating magazine along with a unique opportunity for the Dyno Tuner Challenge sponsor while expanding the entertainment value of the IDRC experience for the fans and participants. Who are the sport compact drag racers and fans? According to IDRC's regional qualified surveys, the 18-24 year old segment makes up 65-percent of the audience with 85-percent being male. The same participants and fans of IDRC events are the magazine readers and the purchasers of performance and styling parts for their sport compact. The 32-page 2002 IDRC Season Program can be found in the February issue of Turbo & High-Tech Performance or the March issue of Sport Compact Car. The Season Program will also be distributed to the 190,000 projected attendees of 2002 IDRC events. There are still 2002 sponsorship opportunities available for national, regional and local exposure.
