Everything Falls into Place For A Victory At the Finals Congratulations to driver Scott Kelley of Anaheim, California and the Toyo Tires Bullet racing team for winning the 2001 IDRC National Championship in the Importdrag.com All-Motor Class Presented By Import Tuner Magazine. The team finished with 519 points, just 31 points ahead of Scott Mohler and his CNNP Neon team. Performance, consistency and a dash of good luck were the keys to Kelley's 2001 victory. Three wins and four final round appearances in just four events says it all. Sources indicate that the Toyo Tires Bullet is planning a more expansive 2002 campaign in search of the first-ever back-to-back IDRC championship title. To date, no racer has become a repeat or back-to-back champion in IDRC Championship drag racing. Stephan Papadakis and Ari Yallon are among the closest, both capturing a runner-up title and a championship title over the past two seasons. Scott Kelley and the Toyo Tires Bullet VW Fastback had a successful season thanks to support from Papa Kelley and associate sponsor Borla. The Importdrag.com All-Motor Class is the fastest growing racing class for imports and sport compacts. Qualifying fields continue to get quicker and closer as the class develops. During 2001, 72 different racers competed in this class from coast to coast. Three racers stood above the rest and were in contention for the championship going into the 2001 Nitto Tires International Finals. Fred Ellis the CRX guru from Aquasco, Maryland, Scott Kelley and Scott Mohler of Frederick, Maryland. Unfortunately, complications prevented Fred Ellis from making the finals. Mohler developed problems in the first round of competition at the finals and Scott Kelley faced a must win situation in the finals against Bisi Ezerioha. Kelley defeated Bisi for the win and the championship title. For the 2002 season, the Toyo Tires bullet will wage war with over 80 All-Motor contenders for the IDRC's biggest and best season ever. The most publicized and covered import and sport compact series in the world will produce 15 events at nine of the country's best tracks. The richest and most competitive national championship will combine with three divisional championships to provide all of the racers the best program for the racers. For the fans, the IDRC has expanded the IDRC experience to now include the SR-1 Team Drag Challenge, the AV-1 Audio Visual contest, expanded manufacturer's midway, a performance parts swap meet and a Dyno Tuner challenge (at select events). This is in addition to the world's largest people's choice car show the Meguiar's Movement One showcase. Ten new season begins on Saturday, February 23rd, 2002 at Los Angeles County Raceway in Southern California. Join us, and experience history in the making.
