Maple Grove Raceway, PA
May 14th, 2000
The record books were rewritten once again this past weekend at the IDRC Nitto Tires East Coast Nationals. Stephen Papadakis piloted his Outlaw Honda Civic to a 8.938@164.11 on his first pass and promptly backed it up with a 8.986@166.46 run. Many people said it couldn't be done, but that's the first Honda and first FWD car that has run in the 8's ever.
Papdakis joined the IDRC and import drag racers from around the country and made their way to Maple Grove Raceway, PA, for the 3rd stop of the circuit's tour. Heavy rains and tornadoes the night before brought on fears that a repeat performance of last year's weather cancellation could happen again. The weather did scare some racers and race fans off, but those who did make it were treated to sunshine and an exciting day of import drag racing.
